The origin of the Castle of Monterado can be dated back to 1267, when it was built on the foundations of an ancient parish church of the Avellanite monks. The history of this residence is long and rich. Its present form was designed by the architect Luigi Vanvitelli. Of exceptional interest are the splendid Halls: the Four Seasons Room, ideal for special dinners, the Music Room, the Breakfast Room which is the most fascinating, the Billiard Room and the Library Room with its eighteenth-century shelves full of ancient books. The frescoes that cover the Halls are very well preserved, all commissioned by Prince Maximilian of Beauhamais, grandson of Josephine Buonaparte, on the occasion of his marriage to the daughter of Tsar Alexander of Russia. The suites, also all frescoed, are rich in atmosphere and remote suggestions. On the top of a typical Marche hillock, it is surrounded by a large Italian garden and a vast wood of secular plants. Add to this the warm hospitality of Orlando and Kira, current owners of the Castle, who have the ability to make guests feel immediately at ease. A magical combination, perfect for those who want to give their vacation the unforgettable atmosphere of a place out of time.
Every detail is studied to make the rooms luxurious and elegant, where aesthetics and comfort harmonize with each other. The suites, all richly frescoed by the painter Corrado Corradi, a talented painter from the Marche region in the 1800s, will immerse you in a dreamlike atmosphere. The double rooms are equipped with all comforts and offer an enchanting view of the surrounding hills and the Cesano Valley. In a recently renovated historic building, in the center of Monterado, six elegant apartments are available to guests, each named after a different flower, consisting of a large living room with kitchenette, one or two double or twin bedrooms and bathroom.
The Castle has a beautiful swimming pool surrounded by bushes of rosemary, sage, laurel and jasmine, and on one side you can admire the view of the sea in the distance, on the other the peaks of the Apennines. Nearby horse riding, tennis, golf course.
Along the side of the hill on which stands the Castle, stretches the forest of pines and oaks planted in 1846 by Count Cerasi. There are seven hectares of park in which shady paths allow you to enjoy the tranquility of the place, walking or sitting in the calm of a soothing environment. The park also includes a beautiful Italian garden scented by roses and other flower beds, shaded by giant cedars of Lebanon.
The three beautiful rooms are available for elegant meetings, small meetings, and important events, are all characterized by important frescoes and a splendid view over the Cesano valley to the sea. The Castle offers an alternative in the spacious halls of the ancient cellars with vaulted brick and recently restored ideal for wedding lunches, ceremonies, receptions. Available the Chapel where you can celebrate weddings and religious functions.
